Selecting An Outfitter

As mentioned before, there are several details to consider when selecting white water rafting outfitter. Below is a short list of criteria to consider when selecting the appropriate outfitter for your white water rafting trip.

Customer Service:
Will the outfitter actually respond to your email or phone call, or do you get an answering machine (or no response at all)?

Experience:
How many years has this white water rafting company been in business? Do they have a history of good relationships, or are they a start-up without the venture capital to put on quality trips with experienced guides? Is their guiding staff knowledgeable and professional?

Permits:
Not all outfitters operate under legal requirements. These "pirate" outfitters may be putting you in physical (and legal) risk.

The Website:

A company’s website design and content speaks volumes about the way they do business. Websites should provide information that is useful, informative and fun. It is also important that the company address any questions you might have about the trips they offer. Websites should provide easy-to-find contact information, including a phone number and an e-mail address, as well as detailed white water rafting itineraries, pricing, driving directions and a what-to-bring list.
