White Water Rafting in Pennsylvania

From the Pocono Mountains to just west of Pittsburgh, white water rafting in Pennsylvania ranges from turbulent Class IV stretches to tranquil Class II floats. Steeped in rich cultural history, these rivers are an intrinsic part of many of America’s colonial legacies. George Washington himself floated the Youghiogheny River in hopes it would lead to the Ohio Valley. Today’s “explorers”-- approximately 100,000 people annually-- float the Youghiogheny in search of white water fun instead of travel. And with such white water opportunities a short one-and-a-half hour drive away from Pittsburgh, weekend getaways are a breeze.

White Water Adventures Pennsylvania Rafting
Operating in Pennsylvania for 30 years, White Water Adventures runs one and two-day trips on the all three forks of the Youghiogheny River as well as the Cheat River. They are the only outfitter in Pennsylvania who can boast of having a full fleet of four-man self-bailing rafts with which to run their guided tours. When floating the Lower Youghiogheny, guests can even captain their own boat down the river with the assistance of the White Water Adventure guides kayaking nearby. On their float trips down the Middle Youghiogheny, White Water Adventures can accommodate children as young as five years old.

"For twenty years, I have organized summer raft trips on the Yough for groups of congressional staffers and interns. Year in and year out, White Water Adventures has provided us with top-notch outfitter services... see you in the spring/summer!"

- Bill LaForge, Attorney, Washington, DC
